Shibuya Bon Odori has been held since 2017 with the theme of "creating a place for interaction between the people of Shibuya and those who come to Shibuya."
Parts of Bunkamura-dori and Dogenzaka are closed to traffic, and a yagura (a traditional tower) is set up on the road in front of SHIBUYA109. People of all ages, including foreign visitors, join hands and form a large circle to enjoy the Bon Odori dance. On the day of the event, there are also festival stalls such as shooting galleries, super ball scooping, and food trucks.
In addition to Shibuya's original songs like "Shibuya Ondo," "Olympic Shibuya Ondo," and "Dreaming Shibuya Ondo," classic songs that everyone has heard, such as "Tokyo Ondo," "Great Tokyo Ondo," "Kawachi Otoko Bushi," and "Tanko Bushi," are played. The Shibuya Bon Odori is the only place where you can enjoy traditional Bon Odori in the unique setting in front of SHIBUYA109.
